Step by step how SQL Consulting works
Initial consultation – Initially, we schedule a phone call with a SQL Server Consulting specialist. During this discussion, we'll inquire about the specific issue you're facing, when it began, and your definition of a successful engagement (to ensure we meet your expectations).
Architecture – We might inquire about your SQL architecture and possibly provide suggestions regarding database design.
Planning – We'll discuss whether you prefer a "diagnose only" approach or a "fix as we proceed" strategy, along with determining the suitable hours for SQL work. We'll also explore the availability of DEV, QA, or UAT boxes for testing potential fixes, consider your peak and off-peak hours during the day and week, and inquire about any scheduled downtime if applicable, including its timing.
Backups & Disaster Recovery – Prior to taking any action, our first step is to ensure that all backups are up to date and that a robust disaster recovery plan is in effect. This procedure is followed when implementing SQL changes but is not required during our "diagnose only" mode.
Implementation – This is the phase our clients often appreciate the most. You can kick back, and await our status updates, showcasing our progress in resolving your issue. While it may not always be this straightforward, we certainly strive to make it as seamless as possible!
Project completion – At this stage, we tie up any remaining loose ends. We'll provide you with comprehensive documentation detailing the actions taken, SQL scripts executed, and address any outstanding tasks. We'll also update you on our progress and prepare to transition your environment back into your hands, unless, of course, you decide to keep us around for a while longer because you're impressed with our services.
Training – In this phase, we ensure that you have the knowledge and skills necessary to manage your SQL server effectively once our involvement concludes. This step proves highly beneficial when required.
Support – You won't be left to endure difficulties on your own. If you require any assistance, feel free to reach out, and we will re-engage to provide the help you need. It's important to note that this support specifically pertains to SQL-related issues.
